Club Meetings Committee
This committee is responsible for projects directed towards the betterment of the community. One of the better known projects is the annual Ellen Trout Zoo Project. Others include the upkeep of the Girl Scout Shack, maintenance projects at the Kiwanis City Park and a new project to keep a section of the highway clean
Responsible for all projects used to raise funds used for community projects. These include the TV Auction, Turkey Shoot, Concession Stand on 4th of July etc.
Arrange for Lufkin Kiwanis Club members to attend as many Division and Regional meetings as possible for fellowship and interchange of ideas.
Promote Kiwanis membership in the community; provide orientation for new members, plan inductions of new members and strive to increase membership sufficient to meet the Division and/or the Club President's goal. (Every Kiwanian is a member of the Membership Committee!)
Publicize club activities and achievements, maintain web site; arrange for media coverage and publish a monthly newsletter.
Buford Abeldt, Chairman
Supervise the collection and investment of scholarship funds. Make arrangements for presentation of Angelina Junior College scholarships to eligible Angelina County high school students who have been selected and recommended by their teachers.
Arrange for a scripture reading followed by prayer at each meeting. Responsible for the annual Ministers Day program at a regular Kiwanis Meeting.
Works with and coordinates activities of the Key Club(s), Circle K or similar youth organizations. Host the youth from these organizations at the regular weekly luncheon meetings of the Lufkin Kiwanis Club.
Support and coordinate associated activities with the Girl Scout and Boy Scout organizations, and any other worthy youth activities in this area.
"Young Children, Priority One", Kiwanis International Theme Project.
Chairman sees that the yearly theme of Kiwanis International is highlighted in the local area through special programs and activities connected with young children. This should be supported by the club as follows:
